Vereen is scheduled to perform such songs as "Defying Gravity," "Being Alive," "Something's Coming" and "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" for the Hartford, CT, concert that will be recorded live June 7 and 8. Representatives for Vereen stated that they expect the recording to be released by the end of 2010. A label has not been announced.

An Evening with Ben Vereen (starting July 6) is the final installment of Hartford Stage's Broadway Legends SummerStage series that opened with Elaine Stritch Singin' Sondheim... One Song at a Time and Chita Rivera: My Broadway.

A Tony Award winner for his role in Pippin, Vereen has also appeared on Broadway in Wicked, Fosse, Chicago, Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair and I'm Not Rappaport. He was also featured in the television miniseries "Roots."
