Proceeds from the evening will benefit George Street's mainstage and educational programming.
The evening will be hosted by George Street artistic director David Saint and will feature the couple's stories about working with Ed Sullivan, Sir Laurence Olivier and their son Ben Stiller, among others, as well as their thoughts on daily life and current events.
Stiller and Meara began their comedy careers as members of The Compass Players, which later became The Second City. As the comedy team of Stiller and Meara, they appeared frequently in television (notably on "The Ed Sullivan Show"), in movies and on the radio, while continuing to maintain separate careers as actors and writers.
Stiller has appeared on Broadway in Hurlyburly, The Ritz and Three Men on a Horse, on television in "Seinfeld" (Emmy nomination) and "The King of Queens," and on screen in "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three," "Hairspray" (the original and the musical remake), "The Ritz" and "Zoolander." He is the author of the book "Married to Laughter: A Love Story featuring Anne Meara."
Meara earned a Tony Award nomination for Anna Christie and also appeared in the Off-Broadway world premiere of John Guare's The House of Blue Leaves. (Her son, Ben Stiller, appears in the current Broadway revival.) She earned five Emmy nominations for her work on the series "Archie Bunker's Place" and "Sex in the City," and a Writer's Guild Award for the CBS TV-movie "The Other Woman," which she co-wrote and starred in. Film credits include "Lovers and Other Strangers," "The Boys from Brazil," "Fame," "The Independent," "Sex and the City: The Movie," and others. She wrote and starred in After-Play and wrote Down the Garden Paths, both of which played at George Street and in New York. Tickets are priced at $100 and $50; the $100 VIP ticket includes premium seating and a private reception with Stiller and Meara following the performance.
