News An Octoroon Playwright Will Develop Series for HBO Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, the playwright who wrote An Octoroon, Appropriate and more, will write "Bastards," a series based on the Israeli drama "Nevelot," for HBO.

"Bastards" comes from Sony TV, Happy Madison and Boku Films. Alan Poul will direct, with Jenkins, Poul and Doug Robinson serving as executive producers.

According to Deadline, "Bastards" is described as a "thriller with dark comedic overtones. 'Bastards' follows two elderly Vietnam vets in contemporary Miami, whose resentment of today’s entitled youth causes a small act of self-defense to snowball into something much bigger."

"Nevelot" was originally created by Dror Sabo, Daphna Levin, Lee Yardeni and Aviram Buchris.

Casting and release dates have not yet been announced for the project.
