National Tour News Anastasia Will Launch 30-City National Tour in October The Broadway musical based on the 1997 animated film will play Providence, Dallas, Denver, and more in its first year.

The Broadway musical Anastasia will launch a U.S. national tour this fall, beginning October 9 in Schenectady, New York. The traveling production has 19 additional initial scheduled stops, with additional engagements to be added this spring.

Anastasia, which officially opened last April, features a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty and an all-new book by Tony winner Terrence McNally. The three previously collaborated on the Tony-winning musical Ragtime.

The stage production is based on the 1997 Fox animated feature, which was also scored by Ahrens and Flaherty. They were nominated for the Academy Award for Anastasia’s breakout song, “Journey to the Past.”

International plans for sit-down runs in Germany, Holland Spain, Russia, Korea, Japan, Mexico, and China are also underway.

Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak directs. The creative team includes Alexander Dodge (set design), Linda Cho (costume design), Donald Holder (lighting design), Peter Hylenski (sound design), Aaron Rhyne (projection design), Charles LaPointe (hair/wig design), Thomas Murray (music supervision and direction), and Doug Besterman (orchestrations), with casting by Telsey + Company.
