News And the World Goes ’Round Set for One-Night-Only Concert May 19 Chicago singer-actress Alexandra Billings will headline a one-night-only special concert of And the World Goes ’Round this month.

The revue of songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb will be presented by the Lampkin Music Group in association with Healthworks Theater at Chicago’s Mercury Theater May 19 at 6 PM. Others in the company include Nan Mason, Tom Michael, Honey West, Suzanne Palmer, Michael McAssey, Stephen Rader and the HealthWorks Theater Troop. Diane Basmajian directs with musical direction by William Underwood. With direction by Scott Ellis and choreography by Susan Stroman, And the World Goes ‘Round opened at the Westside Theatre March 18, 1991 where it played through March 1992. The original Off-Broadway cast included Robert Cuccioli, Karen Mason, Brenda Pressley, Jim Walton and Karen Ziemba. Song titles included “All That Jazz,” “Mr. Cellophane,” “Grass Is Always Greener,” “Colored Lights,” “A Quiet Thing,” “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” “Sara Lee,” “Sometimes a Day Goes By” and “Coffee in a Cardboard Cup.”

Tickets are priced at $45 ($50 at the door) and are available by calling (773) 929-4260. The Mercury Theater is located at 3745 N. Southport Avenue.

The HealthWorks Theater is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary.
