Bocelli has scored a series of hits over the last decade with albums of pop songs and arias, and, since 2000, has appeared in full-length recordings of La bohme, Il trovatore, and other operas. His latest album, Amore, has been at number one on the Billboard classical-crossover chart since its release at the end of January.
Lileana Blain-Cruz directs the new production, opening April 23.
The Cuban-born composer is this season's Debs Composer's Chair.
The cast is led by Bryonha Marie and Nathan Gunn, with Tony winner Ted Sperling at the baton.
The season, opening September 21, will include 58 ballets across 21 weeks of performances.
