An industry reading of A Prehistoric Ritual, a new play by Tim Pinckney (Halston), will be given April 22 at 2 PM at Open Jar Studios.

The cast will include Andréa Burns (The Notebook), Brandon Contreras, Colin Hanlon, Robert Sella, and Nick Westrate. Peter Flynn is directing.

The play centers on Rick, rehearsing a production of Cabaret while simultaneously trying to juggle his duties as best man for his best friend's upcoming wedding. After discovering a secret about the soon-to-be married couple, Rick blabs to the wrong person, ultimately testing several long-time friendships. Oh, and Rick is having recurring sex dreams about Cabaret's source material writer Christopher Isherwood.

Pinckney received a Writers Guild Award nomination for his work on the writing team of Netflix's Halston. His earlier plays include Still at RiskEver So HumbleMessage to MichaelA Perfect Blendship, and First Refusal. He also penned concert adaptations of Funny GirlChessHair, and On the Twentieth Century for the Entertainment Community Fund.
