The event, titled "An Evening with Anna Deavere Smith," is to benefit the department of education of MoMA. Fittingly, Smith's new work sees her profiling the artists whose paintings hang on the wall of MoMA. She will also perform sections from her previous plays. Smith's most recent stage work was House Arrest, a delving into the lives of the American Presidents. It played to mixed reviews when it premiered at New York's Public Theater in March 2000.

The MoMA event begins at 8 PM at the Gramercy Theatre (127 East 23rd Street at Lexington).
