"Clubhouse," which also stars Dean Cain, Mare Winningham, Christopher Lloyd, Jeremy Sumpter, Kirsten Storms, Dan Byrd and J.D. Pardo, will be broadcast this fall on Tuesdays at 9 PM ET. The CBS drama follows the life of 16-year-old Pete Young (Sumpter), who becomes a bat boy for a professional baseball team. Ortiz plays rookie Carlos Tavares who believes that the young boy is his good-luck charm.

The program, according to production notes, concerns Pete Young's adventures as a bat boy for the New York Empires. "The problem is his single mom, Lynne (Winningham), has no idea what he's up to. Until now, he's been the golden boy while his rebellious sister, Betsy (Storms), has always been in the doghouse. Pete attends a strict Catholic high school, where he hangs out with his best friend, Mike (Byrd). On the job, Pete becomes a part of a new family that includes Conrad Dean (Cain), the team's captain and star third baseman and one of the boy's all-time idols who takes on the role of an older brother."

Theatre veterans Marian Seldes and Cherry Jones will also appear on episodes of the new series. The series is executive produced by Aaron Spelling and E. Duke Vincent, Daniel Cerone and Ken Topolsky as well as Mel Gibson and Bruce Davey.

John Ortiz is the co-artistic director and co-founder of the LAByrinth Theater Company in NYC. He received a Drama League Award and a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train. His other theatrical credits include roles in Where's My Money?, References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot, Cloud Tectonics, Sueño, Adoration of the Old Woman, The Skin of Our Teeth, The Merchant of Venice and The Persians. Ortiz's screen credits include "Narc," "Before Night Falls," "Amistad," "Carlito's Way," "The Job" and "The Handler."
