News Anne Bancroft Becomes Off-Broadway Producer With Squeeze Box, July 22 Like husband, like wife.

Anne Bancroft, spouse of The Producers creator Mel Brooks, will be backing a little show of her own this summer. The production, Squeeze Box, will begin previews at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre on July 22 for a July 29 opening. Alan Bailey directs the Ann Randolph play, which is also performed by Randolph. The run will conclude on Oct. 17.

Squeeze Box is about "Randolph's personal experiences of working in a women's homeless shelter and of her love affair with the accordionist of her dreams," and aims to "illuminate the dignity and grace in unusual people and places, reflecting upon the relationship between where we are and where we expect to be."

Squeeze Box previously played the Court Theater in Los Angeles in 2002.

Tickets are $40. Call (212) 239-6200.
