Playwright Anne Washburn's latest, The Refreshment of the Spirit, will be given a reading on March 10, at 7 PM, at the Cherry Lane Theatre in Manhattan. Washburn is part of the Cherry Lane's 2000 Mentor Project, in which older, more experienced scribes nurse along the works of younger dramatists. Washburn's mentor is Craig Lucas. Refreshment is set during America's spiritualist craze of the 1850's. The cast of the reading features Bill Camp, Lynne Cohen and Joanna Adler. Anne Kauffman directs. The show will receive a full production in April.
