News Annual Broadway on Broadway Concert Presented Sept. 18 Broadway on Broadway, the annual free concert held in Times Square, will be presented Sept. 18. Sweet Charity's Christina Applegate and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels' John Lithgow are set to host.

The yearly event, which is produced by The League of American Theatres and Producers and the Times Square Alliance, is scheduled for 11:30 AM. Over 50,000 people are expected to attend the live concert.

Concertgoers can expect to see performances from the casts of All Shook Up, Avenue Q, Beauty and the Beast, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Hairspray, Lennon, The Light in the Piazza, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, The Producers, Rent, Sweet Charity, Sweeney Todd, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Wicked. The concert will also offer previews from such upcoming musicals as The Color Purple, Sweeney Todd and In My Life.

About the 14th Annual Broadway on Broadway concert, co-host Applegate said in a recent statement, "The theatre community has been so warm and welcoming to me. What better way to thank them then to co-host this huge party presenting the best of what Broadway has to offer. And I'm thrilled to share the stage with John Lithgow, whose work I'm a huge fan of." Co-host Lithgow added, "Broadway on Broadway showcases the talent and energy which make up the Broadway community. I'm proud to be part of that community and I'm very excited to co-host this special concert. And spending a couple of hours side by side with Christina Applegate ain't so bad either."

John Lithgow is currently starring on Broadway in the hit new musical Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. His other recent theatrical credits include A.R. Gurney's political comedy Mrs. Farnsworth and The Retreat From Moscow. Lithgow won Tony Awards for his work in The Changing Room and Sweet Smell of Success and received Tony nominations for Scoundrels, Requiem for a Heavyweight and M. Butterfly.

Christina Applegate is currently making her Broadway debut in Sweet Charity. Applegate earned a Tony Award nomination for her performance in the title role of the Cy Coleman musical. Best known for her role as Kelly Bundy in the FOX-TV series "Married with Children," Applegate has also appeared in "Wonderland," "View from the Top," "The Sweetest Thing," "Prince Charming," "Just Visiting," "The Giving Tree," "Out in Fifty," "Jesse," "The Big Hit," "Mars Attacks!" and "Vibrations."
