News   Another Medea, Starring Rocky Horror Show's Tom Hewitt, Will Play Limited Run at Cherry Lane Theatre
Tony Award-nominated actor Tom Hewitt, most recently seen as Pontius Pilate in the critically acclaimed, Tony-nominated revival of Jesus Christ Superstar, will again star in Another Medea, Oct. 19-30 at the Cherry Lane Theatre.

Written and directed by Aaron Mark, the limited engagement is part of the All For One Theater Festival. Hewitt previously portrayed the modern-day Medea in an engagement at the Duplex.

In Another Medea, according to press notes, "we meet the incarcerated Marcus Sharp, a one time New York actor who recounts in gruesome detail how his obsessions with a man named Jason and the myth of Medea lead to horrific, unspeakable events." Writer-director Mark describes the 80-minute monologue as "Grand Guignol horror in the style of Spalding Gray."

In addition to his Tony-nominated turn in The Rocky Horror Show, Hewitt's other Broadway credits include Jesus Christ Superstar; Chicago; Dracula, The Musical; The Boys from Syracuse; The Lion King; School for Scandal; and The Sisters Rosensweig. He also appeared in the national tours of Urinetown and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and has been seen Off-Broadway in Jeffrey, Beau Jest, Richard III and Othello. Mark is the director of Ben Rimalower's critically acclaimed Patti Issues, which has been running at the Duplex since August 2012. His most recent independent feature film, "Commentary," features Tom Hewitt in an ensemble of Broadway veterans. His other feature films are "Random Unrelated Projects" (Best Experimental Feature, NYIFF) and "Zbornik Developing" (available at, and his plays, Failed Suicide Attempts (Living Room Series, Blank Theatre in Hollywood), Cirque du Mental (8 Plays in 8 Days, Hamilton Stage), Fucking Wagner, Dead Agenting, Jackson, Plays With Landline Phones, Subject, Bait and Deer are all in various stages of "development."

Show times are Oct. 19 at 7 PM, Oct. 20 at 4 PM, Oct. 26 at 4 PM and Oct. 30 at 7 PM. Cherry Lane Theatre is located at 38 Commerce St.
