Robert Connolly ("Balibo") will direct the motion picture, which will feature a screenplay by Andrew Bovell. The cast will also include Vera Farmiga as Beatrice, Mia Wasikowska as Catherine, Sam Neill and newcomer Sebastian Stan ("Black Swan").

LaPaglia will also produce the film with Marion Pilowsky and Natalie Stevenson. LaPaglia, according to the industry paper, secured both the film rights and Miller's approval after his Tony-winning Broadway run.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Melbourne and New York in June.

The play concerns Eddie Carbone, a Brooklyn longshoreman obsessed with his 17-year-old niece Catherine. When Catherine falls in love with a newly arrived immigrant, Eddie's jealousy erupts in a rage that consumes him, his family and his world.

The most recent Broadway revival featured Liev Schreiber and Scarlett Johansson.
