News Anthony Newley "Concept Recordings" CD Due in May Anthony Newley will be heard on "Newley Discovered - The Concept Recordings," which is due May 10 on the Stage Door Records label.

The disc features the original concept recordings from three Newley movie musicals: the semi-autobiographical film "Can Heironymus Merkin..." with a score by Newley and Herbert Kretzmer; "Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory," the 1971 film composed with Leslie Bricusse; and the 1974 film "Mr. Quilp," a musical adaptation of Dickens' "Old Curiosity Shop," in which Newley played the title role. All the tracks have been digitally remastered from Newley's own archive. Anthony Newley wrote the scores for the Broadway musicals Stop the World — I Want to Get Off and The Roar of the Greasepaint — The Smell of the Crowd. Among his more famous tunes are "What Kind of Fool Am I," "Once in a Lifetime," "Gonna Build a Mountain," "Who Can I Turn To," "Talk to the Animals," "The Candy Man" and "Goldfinger."
