News Anthony Rapp and Fellow Pittsburgh Hedwiggers Perform Benefit Concerts to Support New Plays, June 21-22 Anthony Rapp and the cast of Hedwig and the Angry Inch at City Theatre in Pittsburgh will offer two "unwigged" evenings of material to benefit the company's new-play development program.

Hedwig and The Angry Inch, starring Anthony Rapp in the title role and musicians Sarah Siplak, Brandon Lowry, John Purse, Daniel Tomko and A.T. Vish, has been an unprecedented success for City Theatre and has been extended to June 27.

On Saturday, June 21 at 8 PM and Sunday, June 22 at 7 PM, Rapp and the band will perform concerts that will include "smart, edgy power pop" written by Rapp for his 2000 release, "Look Around," as well as some of his brand new songs. In addition, Sarah Siplak, lead singer with the Pittsburgh-based band Boxstep, will perform. Rapp and Siplak will be backed up by The Angry Inch band members.

"I'm very grateful to Anthony and the band for giving their time so generously to do these special shows on behalf of City Theatre," said City Theatre artistic director Tracy Brigden, in a statement. "All of the funds raised through these events will go directly to our new play development fund, which commissions work such as Adam Rapp's Gompers, set to close our season this time next year. It's very special to have the work of both Rapp brothers at City Theatre."

Tickets for Unwigged are $20 and can be purchased at City Theatre's box office before and after each performance of Hedwig. For information, call (412) 431-CITY or visit www.citytheatrecompany.org.

* Rapp, of Broadway's Rent and You're a Good Man. Charlie Brown, will be in a mellower mood June 29 when he and an accompanist perform a cabaret set in the home of a City Theatre supporter. The event begins at 7 PM and is open to the first 60 people who make reservations.

Tickets for this more elegant and intimate evening are $100 and can be purchased by calling City Theatre director of development Heather Arnet at (412) 431-4400 ext. 226.
