News Anthony Rapp, Shoshana Bean, Denis O'Hare Set For Garden State Equality's Legends Gala June 25 The Legends 2011 gala, a celebration of New Jersey’s new anti-bullying law and the hope to win marriage equality, will be held at the Jersey City Hyatt Regency June 25 and feature performances and presentations from Broadway stars such as Anthony Rapp, Shoshana Bean and Denis O'Hare.

More than 850 people will attend the annual gala that is scheduled to begin at 5 PM with the performances beginning at 7 PM.

Rapp (Rent) and Bean (Wicked) will perform alongside NaTasha Yvette Williams (The Color Purple), Liz Callaway (Miss Saigon), Maureen McGovern (Little Women) and "American Idol" finalist Anwar Robinson.

Cynthia Germanotta, mother of pop star Lady Gaga, will be on hand to present the Lt. Laurel Hester Prize for Citizen Courage to seven bullied students from across New Jersey who helped lead the way for New Jersey’s new anti-bullying law, now the strongest such law in the country.

Tyler Clementi’s first cousin Jennifer is set to deliver a special tribute to her cousin, the Rutgers freshman who committed suicide in response to being bullied. Garden State Equality will also premiere a public service announcement, featuring Jennifer, which promotes the organization’s new anti-school bullying hotline for New Jersey.

Other presenters of the evening include O'Hare and comedian Judy Gold. Comedian Carol Leifer will also attend.

For the second year in a row, Broadway veterans Alan George and Gary Stevens are serving as executive producers of Legends.

Since its founding in 2004, Garden State Equality has guided New Jersey to a national record of 212 LGBT civil rights laws enacted at the state, county and local levels. The laws include America's strongest and most inclusive laws to combat discrimination, hate crimes and school bullying, as well as America's strongest transgender equality law.
