The West Coast premiere of playwright Jeremy O. Harris' Slave Play begins previews February 9, and the cast all have ties to work's two Broadway runs. The production, playing Center Theatre Group’s Mark Taper Forum, has an opening night set for February 16.

Starring are Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, Jonathan Higginbotham, Devin Kawaoka, Tony nominee Chalia La Tour, Irene Sofia Lucio, Paul Alexander Nolan, Jakeem Dante Powell, and Elizabeth Stahlmann. Understudies include Jordan Lis Cooper, Rashaad Hall, Kineta Kunutu, James Patrick Nelson, and Galen J. Williams.

Robert O’Hara returned to direct Slave Play, which earned a record 12 Tony nominations, the most for any play in the awards' history. The study of sex, race, power, and history follows three interracial couples as they work through their marital troubles in a Southern plantation setting.

The original creative team from the Broadway engagement also returns with scenic designer Clint Ramos, costume designer Dede Ayite, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designer and composer Lindsay Jones, hair and wig designer Cookie Jordan, movement director Byron Easley.

Teniece Divya Johnson is the intimacy and fight director, based on the original intimacy and fight direction by Johnson and Claire Warden. Casting is by Taylor Williams and Victor Vazquez with Kelly A. Martindale as production stage manager.
