Gurney penned Office Hours for the Flea's resident acting company, The Bats. According to Gurney, "The play is designed to display the talents, energy, and versatility of these young actors."

Jim Simpson helms work that features two rotating casts. Office Hours officially opens Sept. 30 and will run through Oct. 24.

The Bats include Holly Chou, Louiza Collins, Tommy Crawford, Bjorn DuPaty, Katherine Folk-Sullivan, Andy Gershenzon, Raúl Sigmund Julia, Betsy Lippitt, Maren Langdon, Turna Mete, John Russo and Wilton Yeung.

"Out with the old and in with the new. Across college campuses in the ‘70s, teachers and students engaged in a battle of their own – making education relevant." Office Hours "tackles the Great Books curriculum and puts dead white men to the test," according to the Flea.

Office Hours is designed by Kate Sinclair Foster (set design), Jeanette Yew (lighting design), Jessica Pabst (costume design), Jill BC DuBoff (sound design) and David Prittie (projection design).

A.R. Gurney is the author of Love Letters, The Dining Room, Sylvia, The Cocktail Hour, Ancestral Voices, Big Bill, Indian Blood, Children and Crazy Mary. His plays have earned him Lucille Lortel, Drama Desk and Rockefeller awards. His most recent work, The Grand Manner, debuted last spring at Lincoln Center Theater.

For tickets, priced $25, phone (212) 352-3101, or visit TheFlea. The Flea Theater is located at 41 White Street, between Broadway and Church Streets, in Manhattan.
