Awards Ariana DeBose and Mike Faist Earn BAFTA Nominations for West Side Story

The musicals Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Cyrano both get nods for Outstanding British Film.

The 2022 BAFTA film awards nominations are out with mentions for the movie musicals West Side Story, Everybody's Talking About Jamie, and Cyrano. The 75th British Academy Film Awards ceremony will be held March 13 in London. 

Despite being long-listed in 15 categories, Stephen Spielberg's adaptation of West Side Story received only five nominations, including Ariana DeBose and Mike Faist for Best Supporting Actress and Actor, respectively. The film also garnered nominations for Sound (Brian Chumney, Tod Maitland, Andy Nelson, and Gary Rydstrom), Production Design (Adam Stockhausen and Rena Deangelo), and for Casting (Cindy Tolan).

The movie musicals Everybody's Talking About Jamie and Cyrano both picked up nominations for Outstanding British Film, with several technical nods for Cyrano as well, including Production Design (Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer)Costume Design (Massimo Cantini Parrini), and Make-up and Hair Design (Alessandro Bertolazzi and Siân Miller).

Ruth Negga, who will soon be seen on Broadway in Macbeth, was nominated in the Supporting Actress category for her work in Passing.
