Twist, who is currently at work on The Addams Family musical for Broadway, collaborated with drag artist Arias on the music-filled Twist, which began performances June 12, 2008, and was twice extended, concluding Dec. 31, 2008. The work continues to tour to acclaim.

According to press notes, "Arias with A Twist: The Docufantasy" is more than just an exploration of the lives and art of the two artists profiled- legendary performance artist Joey Arias and internationally renowned puppeteer Basil Twist. This documentary is a love letter to the creative spirit. We explore the history, process and the need to create as Arias and Twist come together to create and then perform the avant-garde and ground breaking theatrical show Arias With A Twist. This exploration of the creative drive of these two extraordinary men not only inspires, it allows people to dream as they take a trip into the minds and imaginations of Joey Arias and Basil Twist."

Bobby Sheehan and Sara Feldmann Sheehan produce the film.

Arias with a Twist employed Arias' uncanny Billie Holiday-inspired vocals as well as a marionette band of musicians, an alien abduction, poisonous snakes, a Busby Berkeley sequence — and a trip to hell.

Songs featured in the work are "Kashmir," "Jungle of Eden," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Within You Without You," "I'll Take it to My Baby," "All By Myself," "Lately," "You've Changed," "Twisted" and "Ooh, What a Feelin.'" The stage production featured costume concepts by Thierry Mugler, costume execution by Chris March, musical arrangements by Elliot Douglass and Jean-Francois Houle, musical production by Jean-Francois Houle, sound design by Greg Duffin, lighting design by Ayumu "poe" Saegusa and video design by Daniel Brodie. Alex Gifford penned original songs ("Lately" and "The Jungle of Eden").

"Arias with a Twist: The Docufantasy" will screen Feb. 13, 17 and 18. Visit AriaswithaTwist.
