The occasion, she says, is to celebrate Broadway and her longtime pet cause, the Broadway Walk of Stars — the East Coast answer to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
"All the stars on Broadway have been invited," the Dahl announces with easy expanse. Sure to show are the Honorary Chairs: Tommy Tune, Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers ("A Piece of Work," that one — which is the subtitle of the new documentary on her), Michael Feinstein, Turner Classic Movies host Robert Osborne and La Dahl.
According to Internet Broadway Database, Dahl has three Broadway credits to her name: Applause (she was a replacement Margo Channing), Cyrano de Bergerac (she was Roxane in 1953) and Mr. Strauss Goes to Boston (a short-lived 1945 musical).
Dahl knows where her next cocktail party is coming from: Her pal, Douglas Rae, and his truly scrumptious wife, Sally Ann Howes, turn octogenarians next month — two weeks apart — and will come from Palm Beach to New York to be feted by friends.
