Joe Dowling stages the dark comedy that will officially open April 15 on the Wurtele Thrust Stage. Performances will continue through June 5.

Wingert began her career with the Guthrie in 1985 and recently appeared on Broadway in the revival of La Bete. She is cast as Martha Brewster. Nielsen, a veteran of Christopher Durang works and last on Broadway in Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, plays her sister, Abby.

The cast also includes Michael Booth (Officer Klein), Bob Davis (Teddy Brewster), Tyson Forbes (Jonathan Brewster), Nathaniel Fuller (Reverend Dr. Harper / Mr. Witherspoon), Jonas Goslow (Mortimer Brewster), Terry Hempleman (Officer O’Hara), Hugh Kennedy (Officer Brophy), Kathryn Lawrey (Elaine Harper), Kris L. Nelson (Dr. Einstein) and Peter Thomson (Mr. Gibbs/Lieutenant Rooney).

According to the Guthrie, "Spinster sisters Abby and Martha Brewster are devoted to charity and family. But they have taken on another project as well — befriending lonely older gentlemen and then poisoning them with arsenic-laced elderberry wine."

The design team includes John Lee Beatty (set design), Christine A. Richardson (cotume design), Tom Mays (lighting design) and Scott W. Edwards (sound design).
