Darvill, who is perhaps best known as a TV actor for his performances in "Doctor Who" (playing the Doctor's companion Rory for two years), "Broadchurch" (playing Reverend Paul Coates) and "The White Queen" (playing The Duke of Buckingham), has previously appeared in the West End in Our Boys and Swimming with Sharks. Other stage credits include Soft Cops (RSC), Doctor Faustus (Shakespeare's Globe) and Been So Long (Young Vic); for the latter he also composed the score. Other composing credits include The Bacchae for English Touring Theatre, The Front Line for Shakespeare's Globe and 50 Ways to LeaveYour Lover for the Bush Theatre.

Darvill's first performance March 17 will be marked by a Gala Night to celebrate the show's first birthday in the West End and St. Patrick's Day, to raise money for Oxfam's Mother Appeal, which celebrates mums around the world and aims to help mothers worldwide lift themselves and their families out of poverty for good. The appeal, which runs until the end of March, hopes to raise over £10 million for Oxfam’s vital work.
