News Artists Showcase Series Feature Evening of Song April 4; New Play by Avenue Q's Jeff Whitty May 2 A host of Broadway performers will take part in a concert for the Artists Showcase Series on Sunday, April 4.

Hosted by Seth Rudetsky, the 7:30 PM evening — entitled The Broadway Kitchen Sink Volume One: Your Favorites Sing Their Favorites — will feature performers singing their favorite tunes from the stage or screen. As of press time, the line-up includes Rent's Anthony Rapp, Taboo's Sarah Uriarte Berry, Boys on the Side's Anita Gillette, Flower Drum Song's Jose Llana, Cabaret's Kate Shindle, Gypsy's Lyn Philistine, Saturday Night Fever's Gina Philistine, The Boy From Oz's Stephanie J. Block, Nine's Sara Gettelfinger, Hairspray's Shoshana Bean, The Producers' Don Stephenson and Titanic's Emily Loesser. Matt Richardson will be the evening's musical director. Geoffrey Soffer created the Artists Showcase Series to present readings of new plays and musicals as well as concerts featuring stars from the worlds of Broadway, cabaret, television and film. Proceeds from the concerts go to a selected charity chosen by the various artists.

The series will also present an all-star reading of a new play by Avenue Q's Jeff Whitty on Sunday, May 2 at 7:30 PM. Entitled Suicide Weather, the play is "comedy about unfulfilled dreams and overwhelming expectations, and the titillating hope that a healing moment could be right around the corner."
