Talk about site specific Shakespeare! Beginning June 5, hikers with Chicago's Equity Library Theater's theatre hikes can watch Viola and Orlando scamper through a literal forest of Arden (officially, it bears a less romantic name: the Cook County Forest Preserve).

ELT returns this year with two hiking shows, A Midsummer Night's Dream: The Hiking Version, running Saturdays, June 5-19, and As You Like It Hike, running Sundays, June 6-20. Previews will be May 28 and 30 respectively at the North Lakeside Cultural Center.

There will also be two encore performances June 25 and 26 at the White Pines Forest State Park in Mr Morris. According to director and hike leader Frank Farrell, ELT hopes to perform one of the two plays July 3 at the Indiana Dune State Park.

Performing the comedies are Equity members Alan Ball, Robert Behr, Joe Bell, Norm Boucher, Paul Connell, Farrell, Nancy Giangrasse, Michelle Goltzman, Richard Henzel, Katherine Marie Loague, Helen Merrier, Nancy Nickel, Suzanne Petri, Lucinda Underwood and Luke Wilkins.

There is a suggested donation of $10 per hiker. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch, drinking water and a good pair of hiking boots. For reservations, call (773) 743-0266. Hikes begin at 11 AM. -- By Christine Ehren
