A Chorus Line's Hamlisch — the recipient of a Tony, three Oscars, four Emmys, four Grammys and the Pulitzer Prize — will be presented with the Richard Rodgers Award at the 5-7 PM event at the Allen Room. Established by Dorothy Rodgers, the Richard Rodgers Award, according to press notes, recognizes "a veteran composer or lyricist of musical theatre for a lifetime of achievement in this great American art form." In a recent statement ASCAP Foundation president Marilyn Bergman said, "It is with great pleasure that we honor Marvin Hamlisch with The ASCAP Foundation Richard Rodgers Award. He is a valued friend and collaborator and it is fitting that this brilliant musician, composer and conductor be recognized with this award. His achievements in the musical theatre have been honored with Tonys and a Pulitzer Prize, and the new Broadway production of A Chorus Line is thrilling a whole new generation of theatregoers."

Brian D'Arcy James, Liz Callaway and Alan Bergman will pay tribute to Hamlisch with performances of his songs.

The evening will also honor Grey Gardens composers Michael Korie and Scott Frankel with the Richard Rodgers New Horizons Award, which "recognizes emerging musical theatre talent." Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole, who stars in that new Broadway musical, will offer a highlight from the show.
