The 6 PM event, which will take place Jan. 7, 2011, will celebrate Disney's Broadway musicals. Rice has collaborated on such Disney stage musicals as Aida, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast and King David, as well as the films "Aladdin" and "The Lion King."
In addition to Brown and Strickland, the evening will feature Heidi Blickenstaff (The Little Mermaid), Merle Dandridge (Tarzan, Aida, Jesus Christ Superstar), Christopher Jackson (In the Heights, The Lion King), Tshidi Manye (The Lion King) and Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King).
James Abbott will musical direct Sir Tim Rice & Friends, which will offer selections from King David, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aida, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid.
A three-time Tony Award winner, Rice is perhaps best known for his collaborations with Andrew Lloyd Webber on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita. Rice also collaborated with ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus on the cult musical Chess.
