News Ashley Directs Bacon and Sedgwick in Reading of New Hortua Work Burning Kevin Bacon and Rob Sedgwick will star in a New York City reading of Joe Hortua's Burning directed by Christopher Ashley, Playbill.com has learned.

The by-invitation-only event will take place March 12 at the New York Theatre Workshop.

The two-hander concerns two childhood friends who lost touch when one got married. The other, a fitness freak, is reunited with his old friend when he shows up at the gym all out of shape and looking to get strong again.

Though unproduced, the work has undergone readings at The New Group, Naked Eye Theatre (Chicago), Rattlestick Theatre (workshop)and at the Cape Cod Theatre Project (summer development).

Actress Kyra Sedgwick (wife and sister, respectively, to the stars) optioned the play in 2003 with an eye on a New York City premiere. The show is also slated open in Los Angeles next year at the East L.A. Repertory Theatre.

Playwright Hortua penned the play Between Us recently seen Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Other works include World Thrown Tizzy, Two and Making It.
