Earning 12 Tony Award nominations, the long-awaited musical adaptation of Mean Girls officially opened April 8 after beginning previews in March at the August Wilson Theatre. The show features music by Jeff Richmond, lyrics by Nell Benjamin, and a book by Tina Fey, who makes her Broadway debut after appearing in and penning the screenplay for the 2004 comedy.

Leading the cast is Erika Henningsen (Les Misérables) as new girl in school Cady Heron (played on screen by Lindsay Lohan). Bringing the Plastics, the vicious clique Heron infiltrates, are Tony Award nominee Taylor Louderman (Kinky Boots) as queen bee Regina George, Park (Sunday in the Park with George) as Gretchen Wieners, and Kate Rockwell (Rock of Ages) as Karen Smith. The company also includes Kerry Butler as Ms. Norbury/Mrs. Heron/Mrs. George, Henson as Damian, Cheech Manohar as Kevin Gnapoor, Kyle Selig as Aaron Samuels, Barrett Wilbert Weed as Janis Sarkisian, and Rick Younger as Mr. Duvall.
