News Astaire Awards to Honor Marge Champion and Theodore S. Chapin Veteran dancer Marge Champion, who last appeared on Broadway in the 2001 revival of Follies, will be honored alongside Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization president Theodore S. Chapin during the 31st annual Fred & Adele Astaire Awards gala.

Presented June 3 at the Skirball Center, the Astaire Awards honor excellence in dance and choreography on Broadway and in film. Nominations for the 2013 Astaire Awards will be announced May 6.

Known for her acclaimed dancing career with her husband Gower Champion in the 1940s and 1950s, Marge Champion's numerous credits include "Show Boat," "Lovely to Look At," and 3 for Tonight! She will be honored with the Douglas Watt Lifetime Achievement Award.

R&H president Chapin, who is also the author of "Everything Was Possible" - which gives theatre lovers a first-hand look at the creation of the landmark musical Follies – is being recognized with the first-ever Outstanding Achievement in the Preservation of Musical Theatre award.

The Astaire Awards are presented by Patricia Watt. The awards ceremony will be directed by Joe Lanteri.

The Astaire Awards recognize achievements in the following categories: Outstanding Male Dancer in a Broadway Show, Outstanding Female Dancer in a Broadway Show, Outstanding Choreographer for a Broadway Show, Outstanding Choreographer for Film and Outstanding Director for Dance Documentary.
