KathyGail MacGowan directs the engagement that runs July 13-31. Comprised of two tales, Deep Water and Overboard, Seal Song will feature cast members Katie Atcheson (In Transit) and Richard Kent Green (The Sixth Commandment).
Deep Water, according to press notes, "tells the story of Nora, a spinster, who lives in a house overlooking the English seaside. Suffering from the recent loss of her mother, Nora fixates on the sea and imagines a friendship with a seal. She develops a curious bond with an amiable local handyman, Alan, whom she hires to do various odd jobs around her house. Over conversations, coffee and cake, the two find they share a love of music. When Alan reveals that he too has suffered, with the loss of his wife to another man, Nora feels her heart opening again."
Overboard "begins on a stormy night 30 years later in the same house, now occupied by Peter, a man who is in a state of despair about regaining the love of his estranged wife. Peter has rescued a woman, Selena, from (what he believes to have been) a shipwreck. As the story unfolds, the pretty young woman Peter thinks he saved turns out to be a magical creature of the sea who hopes to save him from his self-absorbed sorrow," press notes state.
The design team includes Ascenza Montalbano (lighting designer) and Brian Kalin (set designer).
