Atkinson, who withdrew from last season's BTF production of Mrs. Warren's Profession, will allow audiences the opportunity to witness the acclaimed actress tackle a different leading Shaw role. Anders Cato directs the production that is scheduled to run June 17-July 5. Atkinson's husband, Michel Gill, will play her onstage husband, Reverend James Morell. Joining the couple are David Schramm, Finn Wittrock, Samantha Soule and Jeremiah Wiggins.

George Bernard Shaw's 1894 comedy, according to press notes, "is about the domestic turmoil that ensues when a dashing and sensitive young poet comes between a socially progressive minister and his charismatic wife. Though the play revolves around a classic romantic triangle, the questions it raises about love, fidelity, and the imagination of the artist are as relevant today as ever."

Gill, who has appeared at the Berkshire Theatre Festival on several occasions, said in a statement, "I cherish my long history with Berkshire Theatre Festival and am thrilled to be back. What really takes the cake is that I get to act with Jayne Atkinson again. It's been 10 years since we last got to play on the stage, and there's nothing quite like working with my wife!"

Atkinson was Tony-nominated for Enchanted April and The Rainmaker. Her additional stage credits include 33 Variations, Ivanov, All My Sons, The Vagina Monologues, Henry VIII and How I Learned to Drive. She is well known for appearances on television's "24."
