News Attic Theatre's Side by Side by Sondheim Begins Limited Run March 12 Prior to the Broadway arrival of Sondheim on Sondheim, the Attic Theatre in California presents the earlier Sondheim revue, Side by Side by Sondheim, beginning March 12.

The six-week run features direction and choreography by Dane Whitlock and musical direction by Richard Berent. The cast includes Jenny Ashman, Jennifer Blake, Morgan Duke, Nick Sarando and Joe Donohoe.

Side by Side by Sondheim includes songs from such musicals as A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Anyone Can Whistle, Pacific Overtures, West Side Story, Gypsy and Do I Hear a Waltz?

In a statement director Whitlock said, "These are wonderfully rich and wickedly delightful songs. They are concise, mini plays that are not only theatrical, but devastatingly personal. Every time I hear them, I discover something completely new and fresh."

"Exploring common themes prevalent in many of Sondheim's works:  love, loss, marriage, relationships, disillusionment and acceptance, Side by Side by Sondheim," press note state, "is an urban, sophisticated revue filled with heart and humor that offers a glimpse into the creativity, wit and genius that is Stephen Sondheim."

Show times are Friday and Saturday at 8 PM and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling (323) 525-0661 or online at www.attictheatre.org/tickets. The Attic Theatre & Film Center (www.attictheatre.org) is located at 5429 W. Washington Boulevard (between Hauser and Fairfax).
