Variety is honoring Audra McDonald at its annual Power of Women: New York luncheon on April 21. The six-time Tony winner is of one of six honorees, in the company of Jessica Chastain, Chelsea Clinton, Gayle King, Blake Lively, and Shari Redstone.
In the April 18 issue of Variety, the magazine profiles McDonald, highlighting her work for Covenant House, the organization that helps New York City’s homeless youth. The actor became involved with the group three years ago and is now a board member. She is also a loyal supporter of its annual Broadway Sleep Out, where once a year, the Broadway community rallies together to sleep outside in solidarity with the city’s homeless youth.
