News Audra McDonald to Chat and Sing on "The Colbert Report" March 5 Four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald, who is currently starring in the revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, will be a guest on the March 5 episode of "The Colbert Report."

McDonald will join Stephen Colbert for the 11:30 PM show on Comedy Central. McDonald is expected to perform a song from Porgy and Bess during the segment.

Colbert previously appeared in the New York Philharmonic staging of Company and has also welcomed Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim to his program.

McDonald (Ragtime, Marie Christine, Master Class) co-stars with Norm Lewis (Sondheim on Sondheim, Side Show, Les Miserables) in the production that opened to critical praise Jan. 12 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre under the direction of Tony nominee Diane Paulus (Hair, Prometheus Bound).

Porgy and Bess has music by George Gershwin, lyrics by his brother Ira and a book and additional lyrics by DuBose Heyward. It is based on the play Porgy, by DuBose and Dorothy Heyward.
