Audra McDonald Will Have Special Moment in Live-Action Beauty and the Beast | Playbill

News Audra McDonald Will Have Special Moment in Live-Action Beauty and the Beast The new film will also feature three new songs.

In addition to three new ballads, the live-action film adaptation of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will include a special musical moment for six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald.

As previously reported, McDonald plays Madame De Garderobe, the character who is transformed into the enchanted wardrobe in the tale.

According to EW.com, McDonald will also be featured during the film’s prologue, right before the entire castle becomes enchanted. Composer Alan Menken told EW that McDonald appears (and sings) in a scene set during an event at the Prince’s castle that depicts the “very selfish and self-indulgent phase of his life,” just before his transformation into the Beast.

The eagerly awaited new film will also feature three new songs by Menken and lyricist Tim Rice: “Our Song Lives On” (performed by Belle and her father Maurice), “For Evermore” (sung by the Beast), and “Days in the Sun” (performed when Belle and the objects in the castle are going to sleep).

Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. It arrives in theatres March 17, 2017.
