Audrey Cardwell will assume the central role of Alice Murphy when the national tour of Bright Star continues next month. Performances resume March 13 at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, Texas.

Cardwell appeared in the ensemble when the tour kicked off at Los Angeles’ Ahmanson Theatre last year; she understudied the role of Alice Murphy, then played by Tony-nominated original star Carmen Cusack.

The tour will also welcome new principal players Henry Gottfried as Billy Cane, Liana Hunt as Margo Crawford, and John Leslie Wolfe as Daddy Murphy. Continuing in their roles are David Atkinson as Daddy Cane, Jeff Austin as Mayor Josiah Dobbs, Jeff Blumenkrantz as Daryl Ames, Allison Briner-Dardenne as Mama Murphy, Patrick Cummings as Jimmy Ray Dobbs, and Kaitlyn Davidson as Lucy Grant.

Rounding out the ensemble are Rounding out the ensemble are Devin Archer, Kelly Baker, Hayden Clifton, Cody Davis, Robin De Lano, David Kirk Grant, Donna Louden, Kevin McMahon, Mary Page Nance, Alessa Neeck, Robert Pieranunzi, and Michael Starr.

The musical, featuring a book and score by Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, is also scheduled to play Worcester, Massachusetts; Raleigh, North Carolina; New Haven, Connecticut; Dallas, Texas; and Charlotte, North Carolina. Click here for the full itinerary.
