Artistic director Eric Rosen (Clay, Venice, A Christmas Story: The Musical) stages Tracy Letts' acclaimed play that has enjoyed a strong regional life since its Broadway run in 2007. August: Osage County will run through Oct. 9 in the Spencer Theatre.

Merle Moores portrays Violet Weston, opposite Kip Niven (Broadway's Nick & Nora, Chess) as Beverly Weston. The cast also includes Cheryl Weaver (Barbra Weston), Jennifer Mays (Karen Weston), Kathleen Warfel (Mattie Fae Aiken), Vanessa Severo (Johnna Monevata), Manon Halliburton (Ivy Weston), Craig Benton (Bill Fordham), David Fritts (Steve Heidebrecht), Katie Hall (Jean Fordham), Gary Neal Johnson (Charlie Aiken), Jon Redmond (Sherriff Deon Gilbeau), Rusty Sneary (Little Charles Aiken) and Cheryl Weaver (Barbara Fordham).

The production has scenic design by Donald Eastman, costume design by Megan Turek, lighting design by Mark Kent Varns and sound design by Andre Pluess.

According to KC Rep, "August: Osage County deftly examines the challenges and heartbreaks of the Weston family of Oklahoma when it is reunited after the disappearance of their patriarch. As multiple generations of the family simultaneously support and square off against one another, we come to see them as representative of many American families."

August: Osage County arrived on Broadway in December 2008, garnering the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It premiered at the Steppenwolf Theatre in 2007. Letts is also the playwright of Superior Donuts, his Broadway follow-up to August: Osage County, as well as Bug and Killer Joe. He recently starred opposite original August: Osage County cast member Amy Morton in the Steppenwolf Theatre Company revival of Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? which will arrive on Broadway in 2012.
