News Australian TV Star Meagher Joins London Company of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert Ray Meagher, best known for his TV role as Alf Stewart in the Australian TV soap "Home and Away," will join the West End company of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert — The Musical to play the mechanic Bob. He will begin performances in the role Sept. 30 at the Palace Theatre.

He joins a company that currently includes Don Gallagher as Bernadette, Ben Richards as Tick and Oliver Thornton as Adam. Australian born Meagher's acting career has spanned a period of over 35 years on film, television and stage. He has played the role of Alf Stewart since the first episode of the series in 1988 and as a result of which he won the Gold Logie Award for Most Popular Personality on Australian Television earlier this year.  He also previously played Bob in the Australian production of Priscilla in Sydney. He has worked extensively in pantomime throughout the UK, most recently playing Captain Hook in Peter Pan in Tumbridge Wells. His extensive Australia theatre credits include work for Queensland Theatre Company and the Adelaide Festival. His many film credits include "Breaker Morant," "The Chamberlain Report" and "Mail Order Bride."
