The hardcover book, featuring illustrations by Jim Madsen, includes a CD with the song "The Music in My Mind" by Hamlisch and his Nutty Professor collaborator Rupert Holmes.

"Marvin Makes Music" was completed prior to Hamlisch's death on Aug. 6 at the age of 68. The book tells the autobiographical story of Hamlisch's acceptance into Juilliard School at the age of six.

Hamlisch is one of 11 people to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. He also received the Pulitzer Prize for A Chorus Line, his most iconic work. His other theatre works include the musicals They're Playing Our Song, Jean Seberg, Smile, The Goodbye Girl and Sweet Smell of Success. He also wrote songs for Nora Ephron's play Imaginary Friends.
