Justin Anthony Long and Jonathan Lee authored book, music and lyrics to the comedy, which is directed by David Alpert (Guys and Dolls, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide…, White Noise). The 2 PM reading will take place at the Snapple Theatre Center. In addition to Hurlbert (Legally Blonde), Vivino (Wicked) and LaVerdiere (The Producers), the cast will include Kevin Vortmann (A Little Night Music), Lavon Fisher-Wilson (The Color Purple), Valerie Fagan (The Addams Family), Madeleine Doherty (Sister Act), Ariel Frenkel, Diana Limon, Katelyn Hoover, Jacey Powers (Our Town), Christopher deProphetis (South Pacific), Katie Lee, Matt Wiggin, Dayna Grayber, Calvin Thompson and Tara Newinsky. Kelly A. Martindale is stage manager.

Here's how the musical is billed: "In this zany tribute to traditional musical theatre, a bakeoff gone bad causes mass hysteria in a small southern town. Welcome to Shoofly, where the Button M. Britches Annual Bakeoff is bigger than Christmas. Mary Beth Bidder has won the crown and ribbons every year. That is until last year, when a mysterious amnesiac stumbled into town. Penelope Spring may have no memories of her past, but she has the baking skills of Betty mother!#@$ing Crocker.' Who will be crowned this year’s bakeoff champion? Revel in the throwbacks to the golden age of musical theatre in this not-quite-a-spoof musical that’s baked to hilarious perfection."

Welcome to Shoofly has arrangements by Molly Gachignard with additional arrangements by Sarah Brett England. The production has musical direction by Nicholas Nicassio.
