The Vineyard Theatre presents the "Summer in the Square" musical event — which is free and open-to-the-public — to perform July 13, starting at 6 PM in the downtown locale.
Avenue Q's Tony Award nominee D'Abruzzo and Harada will perform the Tony Award-winning musical's "The More You Ruv Someone" in the evening that also features David Driver performing a musical number from the last season's People Are Wrong! Also, Butler and Freeman will be joined by Bobby Daye (Dreamgirls) and Todd Almond (People Are Wrong!) for a first look at the upcoming new musical by Kirsten Childs Miracle Brothers, beginning Aug. 25 at the company's nearby home.
Tina Landau (Bells Are Ringing, Floyd Collins) will direct Miracle Brothers which opens at the Off-Broadway stage Sept. 18. Set in 17th century Brazil, the story follows two Brazilian brothers — one black, one white — who escape their plantation life and head out on a string of adventures.
Butler (Little Shop of Horrors, Hairspray), Freeman (The Who's Tommy) are featured in a cast that includes Tyler Maynard (Altar Boyz), Anika Larsen (All Shook Up), Devin Richards (Wonderful Town), Darrell Moultrie (Aida) and Karen Olivo (Brooklyn).
"Summer in the Square" is free and open to the public at Union Square Park, overlaying Broadway (between 14th and 18th Streets).
