News Award-Nominated Gutenberg! The Musical! Will Close May 6 in NYC Gutenberg! The Musical! will play its final Off-Broadway performance May 6, the producers announced on April 26, hours after learning the show was nominated for two Drama Desk Awards.

By the closing date at the Actors' Playhouse in Greenwich Village, the two-actor musical comedy will have played 159 performances and 14 previews Off-Broadway. June 3 was originally announced as the scheduled close for the daffy show about clueless musical comedy writers selling their wares in a sweaty backers' audition.

Gutenberg! The Musical! has been nominated for the 2007 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and the 2007 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. Its authors, Scott Brown and Anthony King, were nominated for the 2007 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Book of a Musical; and its director, Alex Timbers, was nominated for the 2007 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical.

International productions and a cast album are likely for the future, producer Trevor Brown previously told Playbill.com.

Gutenberg! The Musical! opened as a six-week run at 59E59 Theaters in November 2006, before transferring to The Actors' Playhouse in January 2007.

Original cast members Jeremy Shamos and Christopher Fitzgerald will reunite to perform an excerpt from the production at the Lortel Awards ceremony on May 7. Directed by Obie Award-winner Alex Timbers, the show currently features Darren Goldstein as Doug Simon and Helen Hayes Award nominee David Turner as Bud Davenport.

The performance schedule for Gutenberg! The Musical! is Tuesday through Friday at 8 PM, Saturday at 7 and 10 PM, and Sunday at 3 and 7 PM, through May 6.
