News Award Winner Mike Birbiglia Joins "Orange is The New Black" As Recurring According to The Wire, award-winning comedian and actor Mike Birbiglia will join the cast of Netflix's "Orange Is The New Black" as a recurring role, along with other new cast members Mary Steenburgen and Blair Brown.

Birbiglia is best known as a standup comedian, and won a Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Solo Show for his acclaimed My Girlfriend's Boyfriend.

In 2012 he directed and starred in a film of his acclaimed one man show, "Sleepwalk With Me." Birbiglia will bring his new show Thank God For Jokes to BAM Sept. 5.

His role on "Orange Is The New Black" comes on the heel of new screen roles in "Girls" and the film "The Fault In Our Stars."

Steenburgen played the title role on Broadway in 1993's Candida; Brown is a Broadway veteran who notably appeared in Michael Frayn's Copenhagen in 2000.

"Orange Is The New Black" will air its third season in 2015.
