News Babalu-cy!, with Purnhagen, to Play the Actors Temple Theatre The Back Stage Bistro Award-winning Babalu-cy! — The Art of Desi Arnaz, conceived and written by Greg Purnhagen, will begin previews Aug. 23 at 3 PM at the Actors Temple Theatre.

Purnhagen also stars in the production, which features direction by Gene Castle and musical direction and arrangements by David Cook. Opening performance is scheduled for Sept. 17 at 3 PM.

The production also boasts a seven-piece Latin band led by music director Cook. Michael and Barbara Ross produce.

Babalu-cy!, according to press notes, "takes a look at Arnaz' career from his tremendous success as a bandleader/singer to his relationship with America's favorite red-head.

Babalu-cy! debuted at the Metropolitan Room in July 2007, winning a 2008 Back Stage Bistro Award for Best Theme Show.

Show times are Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 3 PM. The Actors Temple Theatre is located in Manhattan at 339 West 47th Street. Tickets, priced $35 and $55, are available by calling (212) 239-6200 or by visiting www.telecharge.com.
