George Orwell's political satire 1984 comes to life in Alan Lyddiard's stage adaptation Off-Broadway March 13.

59E59 Theaters hosts the limited-run production that officially opens March 25 and will continue through April 19 under the direction of Godlight Theatre Company artistic director Joe Tantalo.

The cast of 1984 includes Katherine Boynton, Enid Cortes, Gregory Konow, Deanna McGovern, Dustin Olson, Nick Paglino, Aaron Paternoster, Michael Shimkin, Scarlett Thiele, Michael Tranzilli and Sammy Tunis.

1984, according to press notes, "is a chronicle of one man's struggle against the ubiquitous, menacing state power Big Brother that tries to dictate nearly every aspect of human life. A classic in dystopian fiction and a trenchant political satire, 1984 resonates with themes as salient today as they were when this novel was first written."

1984 has choreography by Hachi Yu, with designs by Maruti Evans (set, lighting and costume design), Rick Sordelet (fight direction) and Andrew Recinos (original music and sound design).
