Directed by David Zippel, Shooting Star will be presented April 16 at 3 PM. The cast will feature Linda Balgord (Gypsy), Matthew Gumley (Distracted), Curtis Holbrook (West Side Story), three-time Tony nominee Dee Hoty (Mamma Mia!), Mark Price (Mary Poppins) and Tom Alan Robbins (The Lion King). Shooting Star, which features book, music and lyrics by Michael E. Dansicker, "tells the saga of Disney's first contract player… one of Hollywood's darkest and saddest stories," according to press notes.

The Dreamland reading will be offered April 21 at 3 PM. The cast will include Ken Kantor (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Michele Ragusa (Young Frankenstein), John Dewar (The Woman in White), Michael McGowan (Grease), Rob Richardson (A Tale of Two Cities), Ron Brown and Sara Clark.

Dreamland was penned by Eric Rockwell (music), Joanne Bogart (lyrics) and William J. Brooke (book). Based on Irwin Shaw's "The Gentle People," the musical is described as such: "It's Brooklyn and the summer of 1939. Amiable Jonah Goodman is confronted by a smooth-talking crook and the situation goes from bad to worse when the gangster starts dating his daughter. Jonah is forced to come to an extreme decision with life-or-death stakes. How far do we go to protect ourselves and those we love?"

The readings will be presented at the York's home at The Theatre at Saint Peter's on 54th Street, east of Lexington Avenue. Although the readings are free, reservations are required by emailing Jeff Landsman at [email protected] (include name, phone number, the show's title and the number of tickets) or by calling (212) 935-5824, ext. 24.
