The Silja Line boats will travel from Stockholm to Helsinki, with performances on board by ensembles from the Kirov Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Manfred Honeck, festival artistic director Esa-Pekka Salonen, and Valery Gergiev.
During the cruise, concerts will also be taking place at venues in other Baltic countries.
The festival proper features performances by the above-mentioned orchestras, and others, as well as such soloists as pianist H_lne Grimaud and soprano Solveig Kringelborn.
The Baltic Sea Festival is dedicated to promoting the musical development of and cooperation between the Baltic States.
