BAM's Next Wave Festival to Present NY Premiere of Basetrack

News   BAM's Next Wave Festival to Present NY Premiere of Basetrack
Basetrack, a new play adapted from interviews with Marine veterans and their families, will make its New York premiere as part of Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival.

Performances begin Nov. 11 and continue through Nov. 15 at BAM's Harvey Theater.

Created by En Garde Arts and Edward Bilous, Basetrack was adapted by Jason Grote. Seth Bockley will direct "a cast of actors [who] delve into the experience of the Marines — and their families — as they enlist, deploy, serve and return home fundamentally changed."

Casting will be announced at a later date.

Basetrack is built entirely from interviews conducted by the artistic team with veterans and their families. In performance the interviews are accompanied by a cascade of images and sound, including an electro-acoustic score composed by Edward Bilous, Michelle DiBucci and Greg Kalember and performed onstage by a four-piece band.

The performances are part of a national tour that will bring together veteran and civilian audiences and will include a community engagement initiative, MHA-NYC's Stories We Carry (SWC), structured conversations between veterans and civilians about the impact of war led by Scott Thompson, project director of Stories We Carry. The creative team for Basetrack also includes Caleb Wertenbaker (set design), Paul Hudson (lighting design), Claudia Brown (costume design), William David Fastenow (performance technology design) and Balazs Gardi (photography).
